Mr. Brown is a founding partner of Brown & Peña, P.A. Admitted to the Florida Bar in 1989, Mr. Brown started practice with a small firm that concentrated on civil litigation and then joined a well known and respected statewide firm whose primary practice was insurance defense. After several years as a senior partner, Mr. Brown started his own firm in 2008. He has over 20 years of experience in civil litigation handling a wide variety of cases as well as defending workers' compensation claims for carriers, self-insureds, and third-party administrators at the trial and appellate level throughout the State of Florida. Mr. Brown is certified by the State of Florida, Department of Insurance, and has lectured extensively on the subject of workers' compensation.

Jorge Peña

Jorge A. Peña is a founding partner of Brown and Peña P.A. Mr. Peña has over twenty years experience handling insurance defense matters including Federal Tort claims, automobile, trucking litigation and premises liability. He also has extensive experience in handling employment litigation including Workers' Compensation and Longshore Workers Compensation Claims. As a result, he has developed expertise in all areas of workers' compensation defense including toxic exposure claims, policy coverage defenses, occupational disease claims and numerous high value catastrophic claims where expertise in complex medical issues is necessary. Mr. Peña utilizes this expertise in advising employers and carriers on how to best handle and posture claims for minimal exposure during the process of defending his clients His responsibilities include all aspects of litigation from the initial stages of a claim where communication with the employer and carrier is vital, to the ultimate conclusion be it settlement or trial.

Mr. Peña's practice also encompasses handling civil litigation matters relating to employment practices including wrongful discharge, wage and hour violations and retaliatory discharge. Mr Peña is state certified in legal instruction with experience conducting claims seminars certified for Continuing Education Credits to insurance adjusters, risk managers, and employers on a broad array of topics.

Mr. Peña recently spoke at the Annual Florida Workers' Compensation Educational Conference on medical and managed care issues. Mr. Peña is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbel. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from West Virginia University (1985), and a Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University (1988). He is a member of the Florida Bar, Workers' Compensation Section, Dade County Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association and the Cuban-American Bar Association. Mr. Peña is also admitted to practice in the United State District Court, Southern District of Florida.
